Making Ornaments
From Bottles
You may separate your bottle in 2 ways:
By tapping, using the neck of the bottle as a guide.
1. Place the tapping arm
inside the neck of the bottle. Adjust the rod so the end of the rod is exactly opposite
the score line. (Photo 1)
2. Begin by tapping
gently inside the bottle, along the cutting line. Remember to tap gently until a slight
crack appears on the cutting line. When the crack occurs, move the tapper 1/8" ahead
of the crack and repeat the gentle tapping procedure.
3. Keep tapping all the
way around the inside of the cutting line, keeping 1/8" ahead of your fracture.
4. After you have
completed one full revolution and each fracture has met itself, your bottle should
separate easily. If it does not, carefully look for areas along the cutting line that have
not begun to fracture and re-tap them lightly. (Photo 2)
By tapping, using the tapping arm guide on your bottle cutter. This method is not
dependent on using the neck of the bottle as a guide. (Photo 3)
Follow instruction 1
above. Then..
2. Use the small end for small bottles and the larger end for large bottles. You may bend
the rod to make it accommodate different shaped bottles.
3. & 4. Use the same
tapping procedure as described in the previous section. (Photo 4)
